9/10 - Daily

Today it was revealed that a family member and hat it would go to
court had really abused a student who was writing tiny and drawing
tiny. The poor kid. This kid is getting set into the classroom, they
are finding a friend, having stability, and NOW we hear that the class
will be split up into single grades in 2-3 weeks which would once
again destabilize their world. Another student just had a death ion
the family. Another is waiting to hear about the gender of the baby
in the womb.

How do these kids adjust?

One of the more remarkable classroom management skills is addressing
the class at large that there “seems to be talking coming from the
carpet area, but that is impossible because it is silent reading time”
or “I can’t possibly be hearing any talking in this classroom” or upon spying one
child playing with a toy, telling the entire class “Put it away or it
is mine", and actually watching four other kids stash their goodies.
