1. Classroom management plan.

The classroom Management plan revolves around the idea of Respect.

Every child has a voice and the right to speak their opinion even if it disagrees with the teacher. The students will come up with a classroom constitution.

My Master Teacher also has a procedure for dealing with students that need extra attention.

A. Give the student a warning and if their behavior does not improve, they will have a consequence. If the student does settle down and you have a chance, ask the student what was bothering them. Ask if they would like to express their feelings: through a letter that they don't have to mail, write in their journal, draw, or schedule time to talk privately.

B. If student does not calm down, ask the student to go to the hallway to de-escalate for 5 minutes. You explicitly say, that you will come out and speak to them when you are able to.

C. Request the presence of the Dean of Students to come and speak with the child, the Dean will determine the next appropriate action.

3. Tips for the first day.

Play calming classical music and keep the lights low to help alleviate any stresses of the first day of school.
Be attentive and supportive.
Greet each student as they come in and thank them for being there.
